MATTEC
The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded $419,383 to create the Mid-America Transportation Technology Center (MATTEC). A major goal of the project is to create a national database of skill standards in the transportation and logistics field. After validation by industry, these skill standards will be aligned with industry job levels and education credentialing levels. The process is leading to an articulated education/career pathway that has employable “stop-out” points at high school graduation, associate of applied science degree attainment, and baccalaureate attainment.
Partners in the project include six community colleges and two universities in Arkansas and Tennessee, the American Society of Transportation and Logistics, and the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges. This project emphasizes business and industry input to ensure that program and course outcomes are relevant and current.
